Exactly one week ago, almost all Pixel phones received the December security update including exclusive features in the latest Pixel Feature Drops. The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro had to wait for all this beauty, until now. Google is now rolling out the update to these phones as well.
December security update
Every first Monday of the month, Google makes a security update available for its Pixel phones. The search giant did that again this month, but only for the Pixel 3a through the Pixel 5a. The update rollout for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is set to begin later this month. Today is finally the moment, because the update is now also available on the latest high-end smartphones from Google. Androidworld reader Marc informed us of this with the proof below. The security update is now also available at the editors.
More details about the December security update can be found here. An overview of all the new features in the Pixel Feature Drop can be viewed here (including video).

Install update
The update comes via an over-the-air update (OTA), but you can also manually check for the update. You do this via the steps below:
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- At the bottom, tap System > System Update.
- View your Android security update.
The advanced Android user can also install the update manually. You can read here how that works. You can find the Factory Images here and the OTA files you can here find.
