A cookie is a small file that a website can store on your computer’s hard drive. But how do you delete these cookies again?
Store cookies?
Websites have various reasons for placing cookies on the PC, smartphone and tablet. For example, there are handy cookies that remember login details so that users do not have to log in every time. Other cookies are used, for example, to show personalized advertisements on websites. That’s how websites make money.
Delete cookies (Chrome)
- Open the Google Chrome browser.
- Click on the icon with three dots in the top right
. - click on More Tools > Clear browsing data.
- A window opens. Put a tick in front of Cookies and other site data if that check is not already there.
- Select behind ‘Period’ from which time the cookies should be deleted.
- click on Delete information.
Delete cookies (Edge)
- Click on the icon with the three dots at the top right
. - click on Institutions.
- Click on the left Privacy and Services.
- Under ‘Clear browsing data’, click Choose what to delete.
- By default, some options are checked. Leave the check mark Cookies and stored website data to stand. Click on the boxes for the other checked options to remove the checks.
- click on now wissen.
The data will be erased.
Delete cookies (Firefox)
- Open Firefox.
- Click the menu button at the top right

- A new tab opens. Click on the left Privacy & Security.
- Click on ‘Cookies and website data’ at the bottom right Delete information.
- Put a tick in front of Cookies and website data if that check is not already there.
- click on To clear > Clear now to delete all cookies.
- Close the window via the cross at the top right.
Deleting cookies (Safari)
- Open Safari
- Click on the left menu bar Safari.
- click on Clear history.
- Delete the history of a specific period. To do this, click on the drop-down menu behind ‘Delete’.
- Click on the desired period, for example whole history.
- Finally click Clear history.
