Last March, Disney announced a new subscription. Now here comes the news that Disney will plan to show four commercials per hour. This subscription will have to be cheaper than the 8.99 euros that Disney Plus currently costs in the Netherlands. With the new subscription, Disney hopes to attract more and new subscribers and to be able to serve a wider audience. Disney seems to be following the example of our Dutch streaming service Videoland. As of 2020, they already have a cheaper subscription with advertisements. Netflix will also come with a cheaper subscription including advertising at the end of this year.
No alcohol, politics or competition
variety let it be known that Disney is very wary of advertising agencies. For example, Disney absolutely does not want commercials that have to do with, for example, alcohol or politics. Disney also does not want the advertisements to be based on individual user profiles of, among others, young people.
