Apple has the Magsafe 25W charger with a firmware update, the new version is automatically installed when your iPhone is charged on the charger. The original version from 2020 and the double Magsafe charger were last equipped with a firmware update in 2023.
The 25W charger was released in 2024 and since then regularly provided with new firmware. This optimizes the charging process and ensures that the device continues to function properly. What Apple has renewed or improved is not clear at the moment.

The Magsafe chargers are regularly provided with new firmware. The new version for the few 25W Magsafe charger appeared on August 5, 2025 and is 2A168 (was 2A146). The new firmware version 148 (was 136) is in the Settings app.
What Apple has renewed is unknown. The company has probably renewed the algorithms, so that your iPhone and Apple Watch can safely charge with the maximum charging speed of 25 watts.

Magsafe Charger update
It is not possible to manually update the Firmware of the Magsafe charger. This happens automatically when the charger is connected to the power grid and your iPhone is charged on the charger. The firmware will then be updated automatically at the right time; You have no influence on this.
You can check the firmware version of your Magsafe charger via the steps below:
- Connect the (double) Magsafe charger to the socket
- Place the iPhone on the charger
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Go to General â–¸ Info
- Choose the Magsafe charger
- View the information about the charger
