I often hear from people that it is best not to cross your legs because you would get varicose veins. Is this really true?

Answer
There are several reasons that can cause varicose veins. The blood vessel will always be dilated by blood and has lost some of its elasticity. This can happen, for example, hormonally during pregnancy, but also through excess pressure from outside. E.g. if you have to stand for a long time, the pressure in your blood vessels in your legs increases. If you sit with your legs crossed, the blood vessels in your lower leg can become pinched in the back of your knee and the blood will be more difficult to drain. You can then get varicose veins more easily, so that’s right. Having your legs neatly next to each other is more pleasant for your lower legs.
