Do you sometimes hear your AirPods beeping when they are in the charging case and are you now afraid that they are broken? Don’t worry, that’s how it should be!
Do your AirPods beep every now and then? Don’t worry, that’s how it should be
If you, like us, thought that your AirPods Pro 2 were broken because they made a noise at times, we can reassure you. That is a feature that Apple introduced when they added the hearing test functions. Since iOS 18.1, you can test your hearing with the AirPods Pro 2 and use them as a hearing aid.
On the support website From Apple you can read the following about this: ‘To ensure that the microphones and speakers of your AirPods continue to perform optimally (for example for high-quality hearing test results), your AirPods may occasionally play a soft sound while they are in the charging case .’
Apple itself does not really explain what the different sounds that the AirPods can make exactly mean. But the earphones, for example, make a sound when the battery starts to run out. Or if you are just going to charge them.
Turn off sounds from your AirPods
You can turn off some of these sounds in the Settings of your iPhone (but you must first connect your AirPods to your device). Then tap the name of your AirPods and scroll down a bit. There you will find an option called ‘Disable charging case sound effects’. Turn off the slider here to turn off the function.
