In September Apple brings the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max on the market and that naturally also includes new camera upgrades.
Camera iPhone 17 Pro
The iPhone 17 Pro will probably get a camera island across the entire width, with the same triple camera setup that we have been used to since the iPhone 11 Pro. With this new design, the microphone, Lidar module and flash are moved to the right side, creating room for larger sensors.

A new telephoto lens
This year we are expecting a new 48 MP-Teleelens, with which you can take sharper photos of higher quality. This also means that Apple may introduce the optical crop function, which could be seen for the first time on the iPhone 14 Pro. With this, the iPhone crops the middle part of the photo of 12 MP and produces an ‘optical’ photo. For example, with a 5x 48 MP-Teleelens you could take 10 photos in 12 MP.
According to the last rumors, however, there will be no 5x telephoto lens, but an 8x telephoto lens. The same source also claims that there is a second camera button on top of the iPhone, but that is very unlikely at this stage of the cycle. We had already seen some proof of that. But in any case it means that all three lenses on the iPhone have the same resolution. Last year the iPhone 16 Pro introduced a 48 MP-ultragwood angle lens.
A better selfie camera
The front camera will also get a major upgrade this year. This goes from a 12 MP sensor to a 24 MP sensor, allowing you to make sharper selfies and record sharper videos for social media platforms such as tapiktok.
A new camera app
Apple is said to also work on a new camera app for the iPhone 17 Pro, both for photos and for videos. It is not yet entirely clear what that means, but the app should compete with apps such as Halide,, ” Kino and Filmic Pro.
In addition, Apple would work on Multi-Cam video recording for the iPhone 17 Pro. 8k video would also be in the pipeline. Mark Gurman Earlier this year, Van Bloomberg also stated that Apple wants to make the iPhone 17 Pro attractive for vloggers and content makers. Video will therefore be an important point of attention for the iPhone 17 Pro.
