Bigger, lighter and faster

The Dutch Donkervoort is working on a completely new model that should make you forget about the D8 GTO: the F22. Slowly but surely more is becoming known about this new Dutch sportsman.
Donkervoort has been building the D8 GTO in Lelystad since 2011, but the fun machine, which is available in various flavors, will no longer be for sale for a long time. Donkervoort will draw the curtain on 10 December for its successor: the F22. You can expect a lot from that, as it turns out.
The models of Donkervoort are known, among other things, for their low weight, so the Dutch manufacturer has a reputation to uphold. It promises that the Donkervoort F22 will be the lightest street-legal supercar in the world. In addition, the F22 offers ‘groundbreaking innovations’ when it comes to emissions and active and passive safety, says Donkervoort. It looks like the F22 outperforms the D8 GTO in every way. According to Donkervoort, the F22 is both faster and more economical than the D8 GTO and also offers practical solutions in the interior. The F22 will be a size larger than the D8 GTO and, according to Donkervoort, weighs ‘considerably less’ than 800 kilograms. Despite its larger size and lower weight, the F22 should offer twice as much torsional rigidity as its predecessor. The current Donkervoort D8 GTO delivers 425 hp, weighs around 700 kilos and sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
However, the above does not mean that the Donkervoort F22 easily blows past the D8 GTO on the circuit. In fact, Donkervoort indicates that the F22 is mainly intended for the public road. “We could have focused on lap times, but we have set our priorities on driving experience, progressive handling and driving pleasure. Although you will still be able to set very fast lap times with it,” says Managing Director Dennis Donkervoort in an accompanying letter. The F22 will in any case get a manual gearbox, but not much is known about the F22 yet. December 10 we know more, then the F22 will see the light of day.
