Donor registration, how do I do that?

The new Donor Act came into effect on 1 July 2020. Dutch people aged 18 and older who have not yet registered a choice in the Donor Register are automatically donors when they die. This states that they have no objection to an organ and tissue donation. Of course, this is still discussed with the family of the deceased. Anyone who does not want to give away any or certain organs or tissues must record this in the Donor Register. Or indicate that a family member or close friend decides for you. This way your loved ones are aware of your wish.

Record your choice for organ and tissue donation in the donor register as follows:

• Go to www.donorregister.nl
• click on Enter your choice.
• click on Log in with DigiD.
• click on With username and password or log in with the DigiD app if it is activated
• Enter your DigiD username and password.
• click on login.
• Your personal details have been filled in automatically. click on Record your choice.
• click on Yes, I give permission, No, I do not give permission or Someone else decides.
  • The option ‘Yes, I give permission’ selected? Choose whether you want to donate all listed organs and tissues. If necessary, select the organs and tissues you do not want to donate.
  • Selected the ‘Someone else decides’ option? Choose who determines whether you become an organ and tissue donor. Click on My partner or family decides or The person chosen by me decides and fill in the person’s details.
• click on Go to step 2: Check data and check whether the entered data is correct. Isn’t it right? Then click on Tback to step 1: make your choice.
• Are the data correct? Put a tick in front of I agree with the above registration and click Confirm registration.

Your choice has been recorded. click on View your registration to watch it. Do you regret your choice at a later time? Go to the donor register and click on Change your choice > Change your choice.
