How to download macOS 11.2.1
Just a week after the release of macOS 11.5, Apple has already released a new version of the operating system. These are a number of important security updates. We therefore recommend that everyone install the update as soon as possible.
You can download macOS 11.5.1 as follows:
- Open the System Preferences;
- Click on the ‘Software Updates’ button;
- Wait for macOS Big Sur to appear here and click “Install Now”;
- Wait for the download to complete and follow the steps on the screen.

During the installation of macOS 11.5.1, your Mac will restart. Therefore, make sure you have saved all your files and closed programs. The update is rolling out for the following Macs:
- 12-inch MacBook (2015 and newer)
- MacBook Air (2013 and newer)
- MacBook Pro (2013 and newer)
- Mac mini (2014 and newer)
