More attention to mindfulness, the much-discussed Focus function and a new portrait watch face: watchOS 8 brings some nice improvements. We explain how to install watchOS 8 in this article.
How to download watchOS 8 beta:
- On your iPhone, go to the Apple beta website;
- Log in with your Apple ID and associated password;
- Tap the ‘watchOS’ tab;
- Download the beta profile on your iPhone and follow the prompts.

You need at least a Series 3 or newer model to run the update. You must first install the test version of iOS 15 on your iPhone.
Once this beta is installed you can update to watchOS 8. To do this, open the Watch app on your watch, go to ‘My Watch’, tap ‘General’ and choose ‘Software Update’. You should find the watchOS 8 beta here.
Pay attention. You are now downloading a test version. This software can therefore cause annoying bugs, problems and all sorts of other troubles. It is therefore smart not to install the beta on an Apple Watch that you use every day. In addition, always make a backup of your Apple Watch before you update. This way you are guaranteed not to lose any important data.
The real update will be available later this year
The final version of watchOS 8 will be released later this year. It is not yet known when Apple will release it. Usually the release takes place in or around September. Through our iPhoned newsletter, free app and website we will of course keep you informed.
