Dutch winter sports enthusiasts on a voucher

In Austria, according to the ANWB, a striking number of Dutch people run into the lamp with the mandatory toll vignette. Dozens of fines have already been handed out to people who incorrectly attached the physical vignette.
Most motorways in Austria are toll roads, a toll vignette is required to drive there. Cameras actively check whether the vignette has been affixed correctly. The stickers must be placed on the inside of the window. Fines for incorrectly sticking the vignette can amount to €300.
The ANWB says it has received dozens of reports from Dutch travelers who have been fined in Austria because their toll vignette was not in the right place. It is relatively simple: the vignette must (seen from the car) be in front of the rear-view mirror, i.e. centrally at the top of the windscreen, or in the top left corner. Those who do not want to take any risks at all, or simply do not want to deal with a sticker, can also buy a ‘digital vignette’. Then the toll payment is linked to your license plate.
