Ambitious newcomers hope to attract the attention of the car world by throwing superlatives into the world. Drako Motors is one such new player that turns its nose up at 1,000 horsepower or less and introduces the Dragon. The Drako Dragon is an electric SUV with four 2,000 hp and gull-wing doors. Yes.

The blue colossus in these photos is the Drako Dragon, the first car of the small American manufacturer Drako Motors. You may remember them from the Drako GTE, a thoroughly renovated Karma Revero with a 1,127 hp powertrain. The Drako Dragon is the manufacturer’s first self-developed car and with that it goes for even more absurd amounts of electric horsepower.

The Drako Dragon has four electric motors that together pound 2,000 horsepower to the wheels. A sprint from standstill to a speed of 97 km/h (60 mph) takes just 1.9 seconds. Its top speed: 322 km/h. Drako therefore describes the Dragon in an unsubtle way. Built around a carbon fiber base, the Dragon is “the fastest and strongest hyper-luxury SUV in the world.” The Dragon can accommodate five occupants and must above all be comfortable and luxurious. The Dragon has a huge gull-wing door on each side of the body. A conventional B-pillar is missing, which makes entry easy. Also striking is the opening that you will find behind the side windows. According to Drako, it is not only there for show, but also serves an aerodynamic purpose. The 5.05 meter long Dragon would have a range of no less than 675 kilometers. Not bad for an electric SUV weighing more than 2,250 kilos.

In the extensive leather-finished interior we find a digital instrument panel, with a huge horizontally oriented infotainment screen. Displays in the headrests of the front seats ensure that you can also enjoy yourself in the back. You will hardly find buttons. Just like a Tesla Model 3, for example, the Drako Dragon has two depressible dials on the steering wheel that you can assign functions yourself.
