Ducati: 2022 best sales result ever

Ducati has done exceptionally well over the past year. For the first time in history, the milestone of 60,000 units was passed (and more than that), despite global logistics problems and raw material shortages.

Ducati: 2022 best sales result ever

The aftermath of the corona pandemic, the chronic shortage of raw materials and the logistical problems with sea containers led to the worst suspicions for 2022, but it has nevertheless turned out to be an exceptionally good year for Ducati. In total, Ducati will have delivered 61,562 motorcycles worldwide in 2022, a growth of 3.6% compared to 2021.

Italy was again Ducati’s main market, with 9,578 bikes and a 10% growth from 2021. The United States was a close second with 8,441 units, down 6% due to logistical issues. The third market, Germany, on the other hand, experienced a strong growth of 9%, where 6,678 engines were sold.

Claudio Domenicali, CEO Ducati:

“This sales result is the result of the path of constant investment in innovative engines and the constant pursuit of quality improvement of our products and the experiences of our passionate Ducatisti.

The Ducati brand has never been more loved and sought after, thanks to our extraordinary sporting achievements and our constant commitment to making our Ducatisti feel like part of a big, welcoming family.

Achieving a sales result above the already excellent 2021 result, in a difficult year plagued by all kinds of issues, is really an important measure of the flexibility with which all of Ducati responded, together with our suppliers and dealers.

This flexibility allowed us to minimize the impact on delivery delays for our fans – whom I take this opportunity to thank for their patience and dedication – and therefore also to achieve this sales result.

The team of women and men working at Ducati today is, in my opinion, the best ever and reflects the work that has been done in recent years to grow and improve talents.

Therefore, our deepest thanks go to all of them, because without their efforts the company’s successes would not have been possible. Thanks also to the trade union representatives who have always been a willing interlocutor to jointly find the best solution to the problems of this tumultuous year.”

As far as model families are concerned, the Multistrada V4 was also the most popular model in 2022, of which 10,716 were delivered worldwide. With 7,971 units, the Monster family was also a great success, while the Scrambler 800 family sold 6,880 units.

The factory’s good results are perfectly in line with the sporting results achieved in motorsport. For the first time in history, Ducati achieved the so-called “Triple Crown” (driver’s title, constructors’ title and team title) in both the World Superbike and MotoGP.

2022 was also a record year for the sales network, which continued to grow and reached 821 Ducati dealers at the end of the year, the highest number ever. This was partly achieved through the addition of new markets such as Brunei, Ecuador, El Salvador and Mongolia, with Ducati now represented in 96 markets.

Francesco Milicia, Ducati VP Global Sales and After Sales:

“2022 has been a year full of successes for Ducati and this record of deliveries is further confirmation of the company’s solidity and of the brand’s constant growth in the world. In the first six months of the year, the international scenario was characterized by strong discontinuities in the world of logistics and supply, which adversely affected performance in the most important months of the season.

Nevertheless, in the second half of the year we managed to recover and achieve the highest sales volumes in the company’s history, thanks to great organizational flexibility and constant dialogue with partners and unions.

While the economic scenario has certainly deteriorated in recent months, we remain confident in the future thanks to the strength of a growing sales network and a positive backlog, reflecting enthusiasts’ appreciation for the renewed product range.”
