Ducati closed the third quarter of 2022 with very positive results. The Italian manufacturer recorded another record sales figure, increased operating profit and reported year-over-year growth in deliveries, after volume losses in the first half due to delivery and logistics issues.
During the first nine months of 2022, Ducati’s turnover amounted to 872 million euros. This is the highest figure ever reported by Ducati over the same period in recent years and a 21% growth from 2021.
Improved figures are also registered for the operating result, which grew from 67 to 109 million euros compared to the same period in 2021. This represents an increase of 62%.
Since the beginning of the year, 49,873 motorcycles have been sold to men (and women), a number slightly higher than in the same period of 2021 (49,719). This means that the year-on-year loss in deliveries that Ducati reported in the first half of 2022 was fully recovered in the third quarter.
Great flexibility and constant dialogue with partners and unions have been key to achieving this balance, according to Ducati. The recovery in the third quarter is good news for Ducati, but equally interesting is the fact that demand remains high, with an order book that is 92% higher than the same period last year.
“The third quarter of 2022 showed a strong improvement in the ongoing crisis in supply and logistics. Thanks to this recovery and an efficient strategy executed with our suppliers and partners, we were able to make up for the delivery backlog in the first half of the year. Despite all the difficulties, Ducati’s financial results are excellent and represent another record revenue.”
“This financial performance is highly relevant to fund the company’s future plans and maintain Ducati’s pioneering stance in motorcycle technology. Thanks to the shared vision with our shareholder, we are more committed than ever to consolidate the brand as Lovemark and raise the bar. of the experiences we bring to all Ducatisti.”
“After managing severe supply chain disruptions throughout 2022, we were able to fully recover the lost production volumes at the end of the third quarter. As a result, our sales reached a new record level of 872 million euros at the end of September 2022 with a growth of 21% compared to last year.”
“Thanks to a strong price position combined with strict discipline on fixed costs, we were able to improve operating profit for the same period by 62% compared to last year, resulting in EUR 109 million at the end of September. This represents a return on sales of 12,000,000 euros. 5% At the same time, we were able to maintain a strong net liquidity position and Ducati is now in a very robust financial position to address potential future challenges and continue to invest in enhancing our attractive product portfolio.”
In the sales figures, Italy is and remains the first market with 8,283 delivered engines, followed by the US with 6,595 and Germany with 5,701. The brand’s strong popularity continues to grow in China, Ducati’s fourth market, where growth remained constant during the third quarter, with 4,103 units delivered representing a further 15% increase over the same period in 2021.
The Multistrada V4 confirms its position as the best-selling model of the Ducati range also in the third quarter, with 8,776 units delivered during the year. After him comes the Monster with 6,903 engines and the Scrambler Ducati 800 family with 5,771.
