Twenty years after the first Hypermotard, Ducati presents a completely new generation: the Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP. Lighter, more powerful and more compact than ever, with a completely new engine and monocoque frame, they promise to be the most playful Hypermotards yet.

When Ducati showed the first Hypermotard 1100 in 2005, it was immediately clear that this would not be a happy middle ground. The Hypermotard was raw, unfiltered and, above all, ridiculously fun. Now, two decades later, the V2 generation harkens back to that original magic, but with modern technology, a futuristic design and serious performance.
Back to the roots, but more radical

The lines of the V2 clearly refer to the first 1100: the double “wing” tank panel, the narrow nose, the floating rear end and the characteristic double high-placed exhaust. Yet this fourth generation looks ultra-modern. The front is sleek and robotic, with a dark LED headlight unit that incorporates the well-known double C signature.
The V2 SP goes even more extreme. The white forged wheels, the oversized SP logo, carbon parts and gold-colored Öhlins suspension immediately make it clear that this is the hardcore variant. The SP model saves 3 kilos in weight compared to the standard V2.
New 890 cc V2 block: more power, less weight

According to Ducati, the new 890 cc V-twin engine is the lightest two-cylinder engine they have ever built: only 54.4 kilos, more than six kilos lighter than the old Testastretta 11° block. Thanks to the IVT system with variable intake cams, the engine produces 120 hp, more than enough to put the Hypermotard at the absolute top in the hypermotard segment.
More important for this type of engine is the torque: 94 Nm, 70% of which is already available at 3,000 rpm. Combined with shorter gear ratios, the V2 should feel more explosive than the old 950, especially when accelerating out of corners.
Termignoni already has solutions ready for circuit riders. With the full non-homologated racing exhaust, power increases by 3.6 hp and weight drops by 4.5 kilos — exactly the kind of upgrades that get Hypermotard riders excited.
New monocoque, new geometry, new balance

One of the biggest steps is in the chassis. The Hypermotard V2 gets a completely new aluminum monocoque that also serves as an airbox. This ensures an extremely compact construction, but also more stiffness. Together with the new block, this results in a weight saving of 13 kilos compared to the 950.
The geometry is aimed at agility without losing stability: 1,517 mm wheelbase, 26° head angle and 110 mm trail. Ducati claims that the V2 steers more neutrally than its predecessor and requires less force during turn-in and lean angles.
The standard V2 has fully adjustable Kayaba suspension, while the SP comes equipped with top Öhlins components (NIX30 48mm and STX46). The SP’s forged wheels save an additional 1.56 pounds of rotating mass — a big difference under lean angle.
Brutal brakes for a brutal engine

Ducati installs dual 320mm discs on both models. The V2 has Brembo M4.32 calipers and a PR18/19 brake pump. The SP gets the lighter and more powerful Brembo M50s with a PR16/21 master — the same setup we know from Ducati’s sportier models.
Electronics: Panigale technology in a fun bike
The V2 series gets a complete Panigale-derived electronics suite, with a new 6D IMU. The systems:
– Cornering ABS (4 levels)
– Ducati Traction Control (with predictive strategy)
– Ducati Wheelie Control
– Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 (up and back)
-Engine Brake Control
The SP also gets Ducati Power Launch and Pit Limiter as standard, features you would expect on circuit motorcycles rather than on a fun bike.
The new 5-inch TFT screen has three display modes (Road, Road Pro and Track) and is tightly integrated, without external warning lights. Control is via a new “petal” joystick on the steering wheel.
Ergonomics: still supermotard, but more accessible

The handlebars are wide and high, the tank is narrow and the seating position is clearly aimed at active driving. The footpegs are placed further forward than on the 950, for more control when cornering. Despite the aggressive approach, the seat is accessible: 880 mm seat height for both models, lower than the previous SP.
For riders with shorter legs, Ducati offers various lower saddles and lowered springs from the Performance line.
Delivery and versions
The Hypermotard V2 comes in a Ducati Red version, the V2 SP in a special SP livery with white rims. European dealers will receive the engine in April 2026, North America will follow in May, Japan and Australia in October.
With more power, less weight and a completely new technical basis, Ducati seems to have done exactly what Hypermotard riders hope: not tame, but further refine. The Hyper is back — and more hyper than ever.
