Ducati Superbike 2002-2018: must-have book

Motorfreaks foreign employee Alan Cathcart has published a new book: Ducati Superbike 2002-2018. As the name suggests, it is a follow-up to his first book on the Ducati factory desmo V-twin Superbike racers published last year.

Ducati Superbike 2002-2018: must-have book

While Alan Cathcart’s first volume focused on the desmoquattro era from 1988 to 2002, this final book covers the remaining years of their participation in WorldSBK from the arrival of the Testastretta in 2002 until the day the V came to an end. -twin came when the V4 R made its debut in 2019. During that period, Ducati won five riders’ titles with these V-twins.

Just like the first part, Alan describes the machines from his own perspective in his latest work. Alan was fortunate enough to be the only journalist in the world to have ridden all but two factory Ducati desmo V-twin Superbikes, from the inaugural 1988 season to 2015. This book is a compendium of those tests from the period as described in the title of the book.

Alan’s assessment of each machine includes crucial insight from the men who raced them for the Italian factory, including Troy Bayliss, Neil Hodgson, James Toseland, Noriyuki Haga, Carlos Checa and Chaz Davies. Today, exclusive photos of these historic Ducati factory racers, with or with racing fairings, are an important feature of the book, allowing Superbike fans to admire the previously hidden secrets of these beautiful machines.

The book is produced bilingually, in English and Italian, by FBA Moto Italiane in Florence. Available in a limited edition of exactly 1098 copies (of course), as a large format (30×23 cm) with hardcover and printed on quality paper, with 180 pages and 87 full-page photos.

The book can only be ordered online by mail order, but can be shipped anywhere in the world for €39.00 plus shipping costs.
