Following the Streetfighter V2, Ducati has also equipped the Multistrada V2 with the new 890cc V-twin, the new engine in which the Italians have said goodbye to the iconic desmodromic valve control, but with a top power of 115 hp it is stronger than its predecessor. predecessor.
“A mid-size crossover designed for V-twin enthusiasts and significantly improved for 2025 in terms of weight, handling and drivability,” that’s the 2025 Multistrada V2 in a nutshell, according to Ducati. Ducati emphasizes that the new Multi V2, with a curb weight of 199 kilos, is no less than 18 kilos lighter than its predecessor and claims that this makes it the lightest in the category, and that could well be the case. An 890 Adventure weighs 200 kilos, but that’s with an empty tank.
According to Ducati, the new V2 is inspired by the stylistic concepts that have defined the history of the Multistrada V2 family. The Centro Stile Ducati has defined its lines in close collaboration with R&D technicians, to integrate aerodynamic solutions into the design studied to improve thermal comfort and protection against the elements.
The height-adjustable windshield, which Ducati claims offers a high level of protection, was shaped by aerodynamic research that also included the deflectors integrated into the front. For thermal comfort, as on the Multistrada V4, upwash lateral air deflectors have been introduced, integrated into the motorcycle’s design, which help direct fresh air to the rider’s legs.
The new headlights and daytime running lights, inspired by the last generation Panigale and Multistrada V4, help define a compact and aggressive front view, which is immediately recognizable. The shorter “beak” is integrated into the window and provides a more harmonious image. The turn signals, thin and integrated into the design of the side panels, have been completely redesigned and repositioned to provide optimal visibility and create a gap between the turn signals and the fairing, allowing fresh air to flow to the rider.
The ergonomics of the Multistrada V2 have been completely revised with great attention to comfort. The rider and passenger seats have been redesigned and passenger space has been improved over the previous model in terms of legroom and torso space, thanks to the attachment of the top case and side case at the rear.
To allow you to rest your feet safely on the ground, the new Multistrada V2 is equipped with a height-adjustable saddle, with heights of 850 and 830 mm. In addition, the Ducati Performance catalog offers as accessories a saddle that can be raised to 870 mm and a saddle that can be lowered to 810 mm. On the S version, thanks to the semi-active DSS (Ducati Skyhook Suspension) and the Minimum Preload system, it is possible to lower the saddle up to 790 mm.
The beating heart of the new Multistrada V2 is the much-discussed new 890cc V-twin, the very first Ducati V-twin without a desmodromic valve drive. That may be sacrilege in the eyes of the Ducati purist, but it is a lot easier to maintain. According to Ducati, the new engine has made an important contribution to the weight savings that have been achieved. In this configuration, the engine produces 115 hp at 10,750 rpm and 92 Nm at 8,250 rpm, with Ducati emphasizing that between 3,500 and 11,000 rpm the torque never falls below 75% of the maximum value.
The second thing that has been eliminated from the 2025 V2 is the tubular frame, which has been replaced by a monocoque frame. At the front there is a fully adjustable 45 mm Marzocchi upside down front fork, while the rear wheel is sprung by a Sachs monoshock, also fully adjustable. The S version is equipped with electronic semi-active Skyhook suspension, including the Minimum Preload function that allows you to lower the rear when stationary. The suspension adjustment is linked to the driving mode.
Both versions of the Multistrada V2 are equipped with a 19″ front wheel combined with a 17″ rear wheel, with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires and 170 mm of suspension travel, to provide versatility and driving feel. The Brembo braking system features a dual 320mm front disc brake and a single 265mm disc brake, with Ducati claiming “benchmark performance” in every situation.
The new Multistrada V2 has a complete electronics package, which can be operated via new steering wheel controls and the new 5″ TFT color dashboard, with a completely new multilingual interface based on three different Infomodes.
The five available Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro and Wet) offer the possibility to adapt the Multistrada V2 to any situation, setting the engine power and response to pre-configured and customizable values, thanks to the four Power modes that allow the engine is equipped. The riding mode naturally sets the ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) to predefined levels, which can be adjusted by the rider.
The three info modes (Road, Road Pro and Rally) make it possible to make the most of the dashboard’s capabilities, adapting the information displayed to offer the rider the best driving experience in every situation: the Road Pro Info mode provides for example, the percentage of power and torque used in real time.
Finally, the Ducati Multistrada V2 is equipped as standard with Cruise Control, a USB connection integrated into the dashboard, the Ducati Brake Light EVO (which flashes when braking suddenly) and, in the case of the V2 S, the Ducati Multimedia System, with the possibility of activating the Turn-by-turn navigation accessory. In addition, the new Coming Home function ensures that the low beam remains active when the ignition is switched off, to illuminate the area around the engine and facilitate access to the home.
The new Multistrada V2 will be available in standard version and V2 S, with Ducati Skyhook Suspension semi-active suspension. The first is offered in the Ducati Red color scheme, while the second version can be chosen between Storm Green and Ducati Red, with the additional option of choosing the Travel version, complete with plastic side cases, center stand and heated grips. The new Ducati Multistrada V2 will be available in dealers from January 2025, also in a 35 kW version for motorcyclists with an A2 driver’s license.
The prices of the various 2025 Multistrada V2 versions do not lie, although they are only slightly more expensive than the current model. The standard version has a price tag from € 18,690 (€ 16,490 BE), for the S version a minimum of € 21,890 (€ 19,190 BE) must be paid. If you choose the V2 S Travel Storm Green, it even starts at € 23,790 (€ 20,890 BE).
