After almost two years of corona, looking into the future is more difficult than ever. An energy crisis has recently emerged. Chip shortages throw product but especially production schedules upside down. As a result, new models are launched on the market half a year later. This is reflected in our annual personal previews, which include not only cars. Speaking today: Joas van Wingerden.
Of course you can look forward to a car that you love, that probably drives great, that is the pinnacle of modern innovation. Maybe it’s even a car for which you’ll one day leave your hard-earned money at the dealership. Actually, none of that applies to me with the Dacia Jogger.
Still, it’s one of the cars I’m most looking forward to in the new year, although looking forward might be worded a little too enthusiastically. It simply makes me happy that there is still something like a Jogger on the market. As a car manufacturer, you don’t seem to participate anymore if you don’t bring an oversized car with a murderous appearance and 3,000 – preferably electric – horsepower on the market. If you’re really hip, you take an already not overly spacious SUV or crossover and make it an even less practical and also not very charming ‘coupé’.
Tastes differ, but you can already tell that I don’t like it at all. However, the market demands it, so there are plenty of people who apparently like it. No, give me the Jogger then. Just a very smart station wagon with proven technology, a lot of space in a relatively modest size and a friendly yet modern appearance for a friendly price. You may think I’m a bit too conservative in this, but between the pretentious violence in the car industry I think it’s a beacon of peace.
