After almost two years of corona, looking into the future is more difficult than ever. An energy crisis has recently emerged. Chip shortages throw product but especially production schedules upside down. As a result, new models are launched on the market six months later. This is reflected in our annual personal previews, which include not only cars. Today speaking: Marco Gorter.
The test editors of AutoWeek are currently not lacking in new electric cars. In fact, if it had to be, not a drop of fuel would have to be consumed when making our comparative tests. But low electric cars? Those are much rarer. And certainly low electric cars with a price tag that does not immediately make purchasing impossible for the average Dutch person. Sure, an e-208 or Zoe is manageable, but they don’t drive me wild with desire. A Tesla Model 3 or BMW i4 is already coming closer, but then you are quickly talking about amounts that are quite significant.
Perhaps the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will offer a solution next year. It won’t be dirt cheap, but value for money is still something they hold dear in Korea. In addition, the Prophecy Concept looked particularly good and based on the Ioniq 5, I dare to say that the chassis and drivetrain will be fine. In short: something to look forward to in the new year.
