In a few years Alpine will only sell electric cars. Striking: currently the brand does not sell any EV. So work on the shop! In 2025, Alpine will launch its first electric car: the GT X-Over. On farm-fresh spy image, a very striking car was used to test the technology of that electric SUV.

Alpine will launch a fully electric A110 in 2026, but that is not the brand’s first electric car. A year earlier, Alpine has already introduced the GT X-Over, a fully electric SUV that will eventually also be joined by a compact electric hatchback that will appear even earlier if possible. Alpine considers it too early to send the GT X-Over with its final body out the door, so it has shopped at sister brand Dacia.

These spy photos show a very heavily built Dacia Duster of the previous generation. The silver-grey colossus has been considerably widened to accommodate the electric platform of the Alpine GT X-Over. You also do not have to be a Dacia expert to see that an extra piece of Duster has been welded behind the front doors. A conventional rear door is missing, instead this stubborn test car seems to have a huge hood that can be opened. Under the car you can already see the base of the Alpine GT X-Over, the CMF-EV platform that Renault and Nissan already use for successively the Mégane E-Tech Electric and Ariya.

Alpine GT-X teaser

Don’t expect to see a single piece of Duster on the final Alpine GT X-Over. The Alpine GT X-Over will therefore be an electric SUV with a steeply sloping roofline. Don’t be surprised if the GT X-Over also benefits from the knowledge and skills that Alpine gains with Lotus. The electric A110 is being developed together with Lotus, so it could well be that some Lotus DNA seeps through to the GT X-Over. In January 2020, Alpine showed the Sports X Concept, a raised A110 with which it already hinted at the arrival of a higher model. By the way, it’s not the first time that we’ve caught this crazy, well-crafted Dacia. An almost identical test model already appeared in 2019. At the time, there were no official plans at Alpine to add an electric SUV to the range.
