Spy shots BMW iX

This year marks four years since BMW pulled the curtain on the iX. The electric BMW iX still looks very ordinary with its somewhat striking design. To keep the SUV really fresh, BMW is preparing a so-called LCI. So a facelift.

BMW pulled the curtain off the iX in November 2020, an SUV that was only available with electric powertrains. Although the iX is also on a platform that is related to the CLAR base that BMW also uses for its models with combustion engines, it is more of a ‘standalone’ electric model than, say, an i4 or an i7. The BMW iX will blow out four candles on its birthday cake later this year and that means that BMW will have a Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) is preparing.

You don’t have to count on earth-shattering changes. The BMW iX gets new bumper work and headlights with a new light signature. The horizontal elements of the LED daytime running lights make way for vertical ones. Completely in line with what you see on recently updated models from the brand. The closed kidney grille is also finished with a new pattern. Once again there are diagonal lines, but the whole thing seems to be less chaotic.

It is likely that BMW is also examining the electrical hardware of the iX. Don’t be crazy about the electric motors of certain versions becoming more powerful and – more importantly – more efficient. Since the Dutch market introduction of the iX, more than 2,000 units have been registered in our country.
