Now with 109 kWh!
The largest electric SUV that BYD offers in the Netherlands has been thoroughly updated. The car gets a new snout, a subtly sharpened rear and a modified interior. But the BYD Tang has also improved considerably on a technical level.
The BYD Tang, together with the Han and Atto 3, was one of the first electric models from the Chinese BYD to cross over to the Netherlands. The BYD Tang is a 4.9 meter long electric SUV that can accommodate up to seven passengers. Not much has changed, but it is now being significantly updated. The large grille in the front of the Tang makes way for a more ‘closed’ whole. Not only does the grille disappear, the silver-colored element between the headlights and the BYD logo printed in it also have a different shape. Lower on the front we see a completely new front bumper. But BYD goes further. The front cover has also been given a different shape. This is not very common with a facelift. At the rear we also see a new bumper. The rear lights have a different layout and on the flanks of the buttocks we see a new vertical fold.
We find bigger news in the BYD Tang. The SUV has a fresh steering wheel and a new and rotating screen for the infotainment system. It now has a diagonal of 15.6 inches. Previously, the screen was 12.8 inches. So a big difference. Also new is the suede finish of the dashboard and the new ambient lighting. More pampering comes in the form of new nappa leather upholstery for the seats, front seats that are heated and ventilated and a panoramic glass roof is standard. V2L hardware is also always present.
The BYD Tang always had an 86.4-kWh battery pack and two electric motors that together deliver 517 hp. That combination was good for a range of up to 400 kilometers. The old battery makes way for a new BYD Blade Battery with a capacity of 108.8 kWh. This now gives it a range of 530 kilometers (WLTP). That’s a gain of 130 kilometers. Fast charging is possible up to 170 kW. The electric motors have remained unchanged.
Extensive specifications and information regarding the Dutch market will follow soon.
