Beyond Europe

There is an electric version of the Citroën C3 in the barrel. It will be called Citroën ë-C3. So far logical. However, you will not see the electric ë-C3 we are talking about in Dutch showrooms. That may not sound logical, but it is!
One car is not the other and so is the Citroën C3 that you can buy in Europe is completely different from the model of the same name that Citroën has developed for markets such as Argentina, Brazil and India. There is also a C3 driving around, but it has little to do with the model known to us. If you think that the C3 intended for growth markets uses older technology than the European version, then you are wrong. Where the European C3 is still on the PF1 platform of the previous generation Peugeot 208, ‘the other C3’ is based on the much younger CMP base of the current generation 208 and DS 3. That base, like the e-208, is e-2008 and Corsa Electric have been proving for several years that they are also suitable for fully electric powertrains, so there will be an electric variant of the Citroën C3 intended for growth markets.
In India, Citroën has shown the first images of the electric C3. Just like Citroën’s European EV models, it gets an ë for its model name. From the outside, the ë-C3 hardly seems to deviate from its brothers and sisters with combustion engines.
The Citroën ë-C3 will have a relatively modest electric powertrain. The manufacturer installs a 29.2 kWh battery and connects a 57 hp and 143 Nm strong electric motor to the front axle. This buzzes the ë-C3 in about 7 seconds to 100 km / h. Its top speed is just over 100 km/h. According to the Indian measurement cycle, the electric range is 320 kilometers.
Citroen C3 and Europe
And what about Europe? You will most likely not see this new ë-C3 there. Citroën is coming this year with a completely new C3 for the European market and an electric variant will also be available. More later this year!
