Familiar name, different car

Jeep makes official what was already likely: the electric Jeep Wagoneer S will appear in 2024. It is fully electric, clearly different from its namesake without the ‘S’ and will most likely also come to Europe.
The Jeep Wagoneer S was already discussed in 2022, as part of four new upcoming EVs from Jeep. The first of those four was the Avenger, the compact Jeep that we already know well in Europe. However, this does not apply to the rest of the world, because the Avenger is not available in America, for example. There, the first electric Jeep will be the Jeep Wagoneer S. That is a much larger SUV, although it is reportedly not as large as the regular Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. These are competitors of the Chevrolets Tahoe and Suburban and as such real beasts. The Wagoneer S seems to appeal to a more global audience.
Although the Wagoneer S undeniably shares appearance with the regular Wagoneer, it is also completely different. The now divided plate of the front, for example, shows that the hood of the ‘S’ – which is how the EV is referred to – does not connect directly to the grille, while this is the case with the regular Wagoneers. The grille itself is also interesting. On the electric Wagoneer, the fencing is closed, but the lighting makes the seven vertical elements more noticeable than on a traditionally powered Jeep. In the earlier post, the car was also shown from other angles (see the photo gallery), although not yet in its final form.
The fact that the Wagoneer S is different and smaller underlines that Jeep sees a role for this car outside North America. Does Europe also belong there? We don’t know this officially yet, but Jeep Netherlands also shares this photo and some initial information. Jeep mentions power outputs of up to 600 hp and a 0-100 time of 3.5 seconds. Moreover, unlike the Avenger, the Wagoneer must be a real Jeep when it comes to off-road capabilities. So just dive in, electric or not.
