Mercedes Benz EQA and EQB

Mercedes-Benz has gradually updated the models at the bottom of its delivery range in recent months. The GLA and GLB went under the knife in March this year and now the EQA and EQB so-called electric equivalents of these two models have been facelifted.

The Mercedes-Benz A and B class went under the knife in October last year, the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake were refreshed in January this year and a few months later the GLA and GLB were also renewed. With that, the brand had facelifted almost all of its ‘compact’ models. Almost. The electric Mercedes-Benz EQA and EQB were still waiting for renewal, but from now on that electric pair is also completely up to date again.

It will undoubtedly not surprise you that the facelifts that Mercedes-Benz is implementing on the EQA and EQB are not very drastic. With the updated GLA and GLB, for example, you also had to look closely to see the differences with the pre-facelift versions. Still, you pick out the renewed pair in no time. For example, Mercedes-Benz removes the horizontal trim parts from the area housed between the headlights blackpanel and adds a playful pattern with Mercedes stars. This visually creeps the EQA and EQB closer to cars like the EQE and EQS. The EQA and EQB get a subtly changed light signature in the headlights, complete with a new miniscule protrusion in the LED daytime running lights at the corners. The headlights are now visually connected to each other by an LED strip placed at the top of the black panel in between.

More visual news? Certainly. The Mercedes-Benz EQA and EQB get a new front bumper and the rear lights are now also filled in differently. Again, a light bar runs the full width of the rear on both models, but the light signature on the corners is more ‘filled in’ on the EQA than before. The rear lights of the EQB have been refreshed in a different way and are now made up of multiple horizontal stripes. The Mercedes-Benz EQB – as a five-seater – is available for the first time with a tow bar as an option.

New rear lights and an optional tow bar for the EQB.

New features can also be found in the interior of the electric duo. For example, the EQA and EQB get new steering wheels with touch-sensitive buttons. In addition, new wooden trim parts are available. Both models benefit from the arrival of an updated MBUX multimedia system. The central display is now standard. Mercedes-Benz also brings new cameras, including a new reversing camera and finely tuned active and passive safety systems to the pair.

Greater range

As a 250+, the Mercedes-Benz EQA previously had a range of up to 524 kilometers. Mercedes-Benz has managed to increase this to 560 kilometres, partly by fitting more efficient rubber with lower rolling resistance. Just like the EQA 250+, the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 – without + – has a 190 hp and 385 Nm strong electric motor. Its 66.5 kWh battery gives the EQA 250 a range of up to 528 kilometers. The EQA 250+ has a 70.5 kWh battery pack. The international engine list also includes the four-wheel drive EQA 300 4Matic and the EQA 350 4Matic. The EQA 300 4Matic has 228 hp and 390 Nm strong powertrain and can travel up to 459 kilometers thanks to the 66.5 kWh battery. The EQA 350 4Matic has the same package, but is a lot more powerful with 292 hp and 520 Nm. Its range: up to 459 kilometers.

The Mercedes-Benz EQB is listed as 250+ and as 300 4Matic and 350 4Matic on the international engine lists. Motor-wise, those tastes correspond to the similarly named versions of the EQA. The EQB 250+ has a range of up to 536 kilometers. The EQB 300 4Matic and 350 4Matic both reach up to 448 kilometers on a full battery.

Mercedes-Benz will open the order books for the updated EQA and EQB in the autumn. She will be at the dealers at the beginning of 2024. Prices follow.
