Moke International has a new owner. The manufacturer of the spiritual successor to the Mini Moke hopes to be able to expand to other markets. Until now, Moke International’s leisure machines were only for sale in the United Kingdom.
In September 2021, Moke International announced that it would build a small series of the ‘Moke’, a leisure car heavily inspired by the primal Mini Moke. A month later, the company announced that it would also build its open Moke in a larger series and with an electric powertrain. Moke International now reports that it has a new owner in the form of EV Technology Group that has bought 65 percent of the shares of Moke International for the equivalent of €51.15 million. EV Technology Group also keeps the option open to buy the remaining 35 percent of the shares in the company.
Moke International makes no bones about it and indicates that the company under the management of its new owner should be able to expand rapidly into markets other than that of the United Kingdom. Moke International wants to market the Electric Moke in the United States, among other places.
Electric Moke
The electric Electric Moke has a 45 hp electric motor and must be able to drive up to 114 kilometers electrically. The top speed of the cheerful Moke is 100 km/h. In the United Kingdom, the car has a basic starting price of about €35,000.
