156 horsepower powertrain with 400 miles of range off the list

At the end of last year, Peugeot introduced the e-208 with a new powertrain. Until now, you could only get the electric Peugeot e-208 with that new powertrain in a GT version. What turns out now? Peugeot has removed it from the delivery range, with the result that the electric hatchback is only available with the ‘old’ powertrain again. AutoWeek can report this exclusively.
Stellantis is busy renewing the powertrains of various electric models. For example, the electric Opel Mokka, which has recently been called Mokka Electric, no longer has a 136 hp electric motor and a 50 kWh battery, but, just like the facelifted DS 3, has an electric motor of 156 hp and a new 51 kWh battery. The Jeep Avenger also has this powertrain and the Opel Astra Electric and the electric Peugeot e-308 also get this electro heart. The electric Peugeot e-208 was also presented with this new powertrain. Until now, it could only be ordered in a GT version with this new more powerful and efficient powertrain, all other versions still had the 136 hp powertrain with a 50 kWh battery. Now the e-208 is no longer available with the new powertrain at all.
The Peugeot e-208 in GT trim now has the well-known 136 hp electric motor in combination with the 50 kWh battery. Why Peugeot removes the new improved powertrain from the Dutch delivery range? According to the Dutch importer, this has to do with the currently limited production volume of the new powertrain and the high demand for it. In order not to allow delivery times to increase too much, Peugeot has opted in the Netherlands to supply the electric e-208 again only with the ‘old’ powertrain. The importer cannot yet tell AutoWeek when the new one will be available again.
Old versus new
The ‘old’ powertrain consists of a 136 hp and 260 Nm strong electric motor that draws its zest for life from a 50 kWh battery. In the Peugeot e-208, this is good for a range of up to 362 kilometers. The new powertrain consists of a 156 hp and 260 Nm strong electric motor and a 51 kWh battery. Although the battery pack only offers 1 kWh more compared to the old one, the range of up to 400 kilometers is considerably greater, as the electric motor is more powerful and efficient. With an average of 12 kWh per 100 kilometres, energy consumption is just under 18 percent lower. The Peugeot e-208 with 136 hp sprints to 100 km / h in 9 seconds. The 156-hp version has enough for the same sprint in 8.2 seconds.
