Electric Skoda Enyaq iV 50: ready for subsidy

The Skoda Enyaq iV will get a new powertrain that should make the electric SUV more accessible in terms of price. The Enyaq iV 60 and iV 80 are joined by the iV 50.

Skoda currently offers the electric Enyaq iV as Enyaq iV 60 and as Enyaq iV 80. The former has a 58 kWh battery pack and a 179 hp electric motor on the rear axle, the iV 80 with its 77 kWh battery and electric motor of 204 pk more potent hardware on board. A step below the Enyaq iV 60, the Czechs will soon park the Enyaq iV 50.

The Skoda Enyaq iV 50 is the new entry-level model. It will have a 55-kWh battery with a usable capacity of 52 kWh. With 148 hp, the electric motor is also less powerful than that of the Enyaq iV 60. The iV 50 has a range of 365 kilometers. The iV 60 and iV 80 make it to 397 and 544 kilometers respectively.

Skoda says the new Enyaq iV 50 will have a European entry price of ‘less than €40,000’. Whether that is feasible in the Netherlands remains to be seen. Currently, the cheapest Skoda Enyaq is the iV 60, which has a starting price of €48,990 in the Netherlands. The arrival of the new iV 50 is certainly interesting. Skoda may succeed in giving him a tax price of less than 45 grand in the Netherlands. This means that the new variant is eligible for SEPP purchase subsidy.

According to the Czechs, the Skoda Enyaq iV 50 will at least have 19-inch alloy wheels, a 13-inch infotainment screen, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. The Enyaq iV 50 is available in a handful of European countries, including Germany, Belgium and – indeed – the Netherlands. A definitive Dutch price will undoubtedly not be long in coming.
