Electric Smart #1: from over 41,000 euros

The time of the ForTwo and ForFour is over. With the #1, Smart presented the first in a series of completely new and only electrically powered models that result from a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and the Chinese Geely. The electric #1 is by far the largest and most powerful Smart ever, so it’s not surprising that its prices are significantly higher than cars like the ForTwo and ForFour. After all, the #1 is of a completely different caliber.

The 4.21 meter long Smart #1 has a starting price of €41,395 in the Netherlands. For that amount you get a Smart #1 that is executed as Pro+. The Smart #1 Pro+ includes full LED lighting all around, leatherette upholstery on the seats, digital instrumentation and a 12.8-inch multimedia screen, recessed door handles, 19-inch alloy, two-zone climate control and heated front seats. Ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof (Halodak) and a 360-degree camera are also part of the Pro+ party. The Smart #1 Pro+ has a 272 hp electric motor that drives the rear wheels and squeezes a WLTP range of 400 kilometers from its 66 kWh battery pack.

A step above is the also 272 hp strong Smart #1 Premium. In addition to more equipment than the Pro+, it also has a higher range. It comes up to 440 kilometers on a full battery and has a heat pump and a 22 kW on-board charger as extras. More indulgence: dynamic turn signals, an automatic parking system, a 22 kW on-board charger, enhanced seat upholstery, an expanded Beats audio system and a 10-inch head-up display. The Smart #1 Premium costs €44,895.

Of course, Smart also comes with a special introductory version of its new model. It’s called #1 Launch Edition and costs at least €46,195. With this version you can reach up to 440 kilometers on a full battery. There are only 1,000 copies worldwide. You can recognize him by his Launch Edition badges, the special 19-inch wheels and the always Digital White painted body with a roof in Platinum Gold.

Smart #1 Brabus

Smart may have been reborn, but that doesn’t mean it says goodbye completely to old traditions. There is also a sporty Brabus version of the #1. It is four-wheel drive thanks to two electric motors and is not 272 hp but 428 hp and 543 Nm strong. The Smart #1 Brabus zooms to a speed of 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The range is equal to that of the Pro+ version and is therefore 400 kilometers. The Brabus version is available with a red roof and has microfibre suede seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, a special driving mode and an accentuated appearance complete with extra holes in the front. The Brabus version also has the glass Haloroof and a 10-inch head-up display.
