Subaru also unpacks during the Tokyo Auto Salon. Among other things, the brand presents a version of the electric Solterra loaded with STI treats and also parks an electric racer on the show floor.
Subaru is hoisting its electric Solterra in a sporty-looking STI jacket especially for the Tokyo Auto Salon. We see a Subaru Solterra with a roof spoiler, red spoilers and lips and red accents on the wheels. Subaru also speaks of adjustments to the interior, but does not release any images of the interior of the Solterra STI. Whether the Solterra STI is also more powerful than a regular version? We dare to doubt it, after all, it is not a rock hard WRX STI.
Simultaneously with the Solterra STI, Subaru pulls the curtain on the STI E-RA Concept. That is a preview of an electric racer that is mainly intended to gain experience in a world in which ‘motorsport is CO2 neutral’. You will actually see the STI E-RA Concept on the circuits. With the STI E-RA, Subaru wants to complete a lap on the more than 20 kilometer long Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. To put that into perspective, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS raced around the German circuit in 6 minutes and 38 seconds.
Fortunately, some information is available about the STI E-RA Concept. The flat electric racer has four electric motors that together generate 1,088 horsepower. With its capacity of 60 kWh, the battery pack is not excessively large, but that of course makes a significant difference in weight.
