It is not very surprising that the 718s will receive an electric successor. At the IAA in Munich, Porsche already showed the Mission R in 2021, a 718 Cayman conceptual racer with an electric powertrain. The snapped test sample clearly shows design similarities with the aforementioned Mission R. We see a camouflaged test car with relatively flat, Taycan-like headlights, a front with large openings in the front bumper with vertical active slats and a buttock with lighting that appears to cover the entire area. width of the back. Whether the final body of the electric 718 is already hidden under the stickers or whether we are dealing with a very early prototype that partly uses existing sheet metal will become clear later. Like the electric Macan, the electric 718 will probably be on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform that Porsche has developed together with Audi. Of course we have to guess about the power.
