The thickest for considerably less

Charmed by the VinFast VF8, but do you think the starting price of almost 65 grand for the model with the largest battery pack is too much? Good news. It drops in price to a maximum of €15,000. The VinFast VF8 with the largest electric lung capacity will even be cheaper than the versions with a smaller battery and will therefore completely exclude them from the range.
The VinFast VF8 and VF9 are the first electric SUVs that the Vietnamese brand is marketing in the Netherlands. The pair was initially available in the Netherlands via two constructions. With or without battery rental. VinFast parked the SUV with two different powertrains on the price list. It was available as an Eco with 353 hp and 500 Nm of powerful electric motors and as a more generously equipped Plus with two engines delivering 408 and 620 hp together. Both engines could be combined with an 82 kWh battery and with an 87.7 kWh model. The VF8 Eco and VF8 Plus with 87.7-kWh battery drop in price at €11,990 and €14,900 respectively. This means that they are now not only considerably cheaper than before, but even cheaper than the variants with the smaller 82 kWh battery. They will therefore disappear from the Dutch supply.
After the price reduction in the Netherlands – including battery – the VinFast VF8 has a starting price of €53,900. For that money you get the 353 hp VinFast VF8 Eco with 87.7 kWh battery. It used to cost about 65 grand and is now cheaper than the VF8 Eco. The Vinfast VF8 Eco with 87.7-kWh battery can travel up to 471 kilometers on a full charge.
Prefer the more powerful VinFast VF8 Plus? That 408 hp variant with the 87.7 kWh battery now costs €59,790. Previously you paid about €74,000 for this. The VinFast VF8 Plus with 87.7 kWh battery will now cost less than 60 grand, considerably less than the small 70 grand for which the VF8 Plus with a smaller 82 kWh battery was previously in the order books. It is therefore logical that this type also disappears.
It is not yet clear what consequences the price reduction will have for the purchase construction with battery rental – and whether that option will continue to exist. Undoubtedly, VinFast hopes to make the VF8 more competitive in the market with the price reduction. The standard equipment of the electric SUV in Eco trim is already generous, but the Plus goes even further with, among other things, a twelve-way electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated driver’s seat, a ten-way adjustable one that is also heated and ventilated for the co-driver. The VF8 Plus also has a heated and ventilated rear seat. So there is no shortage of pampering.
Prices Vinfast VF8
Performance | Assets | Battery pack | Range | From price |
VF8 Eco | 353 hp – 500 Nm | 87.7 kWh | 471 kilometers | €53,900 |
VF8 Plus | 408 hp – 620 Nm | 87.7 kWh | 447 kilometers | €59,790 |
VinFast VF9
We also have news for the VinFast VF9. The starting prices of the bigger brother of the VF8 are actually going up. With the VinFast VF9, the Dutch delivery range simply cuts through the versions with the ‘smallest’ battery. The 92 kWh package disappears from the price list, leaving only the 123 kWh package. The VinFast VF9 can only be ordered with one engine configuration and always has two together 408 hp and 620 Nm strong electric motors. The difference between the Eco and Plus flavor is therefore not in the powertrain with the VF9, but purely in the equipment. The prices of the remaining versions remained unchanged.
