Elevated Porsche 911 caught on the Nürburgring

A Porsche 911 of the 992 generation has been caught at the Nürburgring and seems to be standing considerably higher on its legs. Porsche has not yet released anything about such a model, but we may be dealing here with a spiritual successor to the 911 ‘Safari’ from 1978.

The car shown in the photo appears to be a regular 992. Given the nature of this animal, it is obvious that this is a Carrera 4 (S). He stands considerably higher on his legs than is normally the case. The mudguards have also been removed, presumably to determine the tolerances of the wheel suspension. In addition, the sidewall of the tires appears to be slightly higher than normal. An RS-like roll cage is visible in the interior of the prototype. It may of course be the case that it is here for the safety of the test drivers, but it is also quite possible that Porsche has something more intense with this model. With the Mission E Cross Turismo, Porsche already showed what an elevated variant of the Taycan could look like. This 992 seems to have about the same degree of ground clearance as that concept car.

A rally variant of the 911 is not something new for the brand. In 1978 Porsche came up with the 911 Safari, with which the brand successfully participated in the Monte Carlo and Paris-Dakar rallies. Given the modern trend of elevating cars, it wouldn’t be surprising that Porsche has such a variant in store for the 992. Alpine, for example, unveiled the A110 Sports X Concept at the beginning of the year, an adventurous version of the sports car. increased by 60 mm. Whether Porsche really intends to offer such a variant of the 992 will have to be revealed at a later stage.
