With a classic Cadillac in front of the door you are already very special, but especially if it has also belonged to Elvis Presley. There’s now a chance to make that happen, as one of Elvis’ Cadillacs is up for auction.

Elvis Presley, the ‘King of Rock and Roll’, we know mainly because of his music, but car enthusiasts also know him as a great lover of Cadillac. Presley drove a lot over the years, of which the pink Fleetwood from 1955 is the best known. That was the car that started the Cadillac story for Elvis. He got a taste for it, because in the years that followed he is said to have bought about 200 different Cadillacs. One stayed with him longer than the other.

The car now up for auction was purchased by Elvis in 1974, three years before his death. He stayed with Elvis until 1976, after which the singer donated him to his doctor. He often did that: after a while – sometimes after a few months – give one of his cars to an acquaintance or family member, to continue with a new car himself. However, this copy remained in his possession for an above-average length of time.

The doctor owned the Fleetwood Brougham until 1985, after which the car ended up in Sweden through several different owners. There he is now offered for auction. All papers would still be present, including the signed proof of purchase that shows that Elvis bought the car new in 1974. The car is still completely original and, according to the seller, it really shows its age in some places, but you are really exactly right on the same fabric that Elvis once sat on. The car is also not running at the moment, although according to the provider this is due to the long standing still and not because something has broken. The Cadillac has a pretty virgin mileage with 2,776 km.

It is not known at the time of writing what the target price is, but we would not be surprised if this sled will yield several tons. The auction kicks off tomorrow (Jan. 8) on what would be Elvis’ 87th birthday.
