“End is approaching for Alfa Romeo Giulietta”

You may fall back in astonishment, but did you know that the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is still in production? Alfa’s compact mid-sized car has been among us for a decade. Allegedly it is now almost over.

It has been almost ten years since Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulietta to the world. The car was received with great enthusiasm at the time, partly due to the return of the famous name. In its first years the Giulietta was also able to keep up with the sales. In the meantime, however, that time is in a gray past and Alfa Romeo also seems to have finished it. According to various Italian sources, including the national Alfa Romeo club, the production of the Giulietta is currently being reduced to ‘between 40 and 70 copies a day’, in order to completely pull the plug somewhere next spring.

A successor has not surfaced yet. Alfa Romeo is now focusing primarily on the arrival of the Tonale and for the time being does not seem to be actively involved in adding another direct Golf and Focus rival such as the Giulietta to its range. We still saw a Giulietta successor on brand plans from two years ago, but until now it has been awfully quiet around that model. Possibly the upcoming merger of parent company FCA with PSA offers possibilities. Who knows, maybe we will eventually find a successor who shares his basis and technology with the Opel Astra and Peugeot 308.
