More personalization
Things weren’t going well for Bentley for a long time. The luxury brand from the Volkswagen stable recently achieved record year after record year, but had to do with 11 percent less in 2023.
Just like with many other brands at the absolute top of the market, Bentley seems to have been doing very well for years. The very richest will not be held back by a pandemic, so the British under German rule simply made 2020 a record year. That record was then comfortably surpassed in 2021 and set again in 2022. Crewe is now discovering that all growth is coming to an end. A total of 13,560 Bentleys were sold in 2023, 11 percent less than last year. Because PR people are uniquely able to see the positive in everything, Bentley is still shouting that 2023 will still be the third best year ever. Well.
Nice: many more cars will be sold in 2023 within Bentley’s personalization department Mulliner, in which the brand has also invested heavily in recent years. That helps: the brand sold no less than 43 percent more Mulliner cars than in 2022. As a plaster on the sales wound, Bentley also notes that more customers are opting for extra expensive and fast S or Speed versions, while also the long Extended Wheelbase version of the Bentayga sells relatively well. The Bentayga as a whole accounted for 44 percent of Bentley sales, slightly more than last year (42 percent). The Continental GT and GT Convertible together account for 31 percent of the total, while the Flying Spur sedan accounts for 25 percent. Bentley is most successful in the Americas, grew in Asia and the Middle East, but saw sales fall sharply in China and the United Kingdom.
In terms of growth figures, this result places Bentley ahead of that other top brand from England, Rolls-Royce. This ended another record year in 2023, although the absolute numbers are lower at 6,021 units.
