With the GSP 601 EPOS focuses mainly on the purity of the sound. That has also worked out very well with this headset. The pure tones and the very wide sound field sound better than we have heard in a gaming headset so far. This seems to have been at the expense of the bass. This is in fact a lot less present in the GSP 601 than we are used to from gaming headsets. The bass that is present is of high quality. Even if we turn up the volume, we do not hear clipping or other distortions in the EPOS Sennheiser GSP 601.
Design
The design of the EPOS Sennheiser GSP 601 also distinguishes itself from other headsets thanks to its striking industrial look. The ear cups are attached to a metal holder that can tilt horizontally and vertically. The whole is on a headband in which the cables are neatly concealed. The copper-colored caps on the sides can, if desired, be replaced by the two white caps supplied. The whole feels solid. Two audio cables are supplied with the headset: one cable ends in a 4-pole 3.5mm jack connection intended for game consoles, the second cable ends in two 3-pole 3.5mm jack connections. The headset itself has a long plug designed by EPOS that is inserted deep into the headset.
Comfort
Thanks to the thick cushions on the headband, the headset lies comfortably on the skull. The ear cups cover the ears well and also damp the sound more than enough. On the left side of the headset is a microphone that turns on when turned downwards. On the right ear cup, the large white knob can be turned to adjust the volume.
Conclusion
Taste is indisputable and although we are very pleased with the quality, we do wonder if all gamers will be equally charmed. Especially with a price tag of 199 euros, we recommend waiting until you can try out the GSP 601 yourself somewhere safe. It will certainly not be due to the high sound quality, it is mainly a matter of taste.
