Fewer new vans have been registered in the European Union in recent months than in July and August last year. In July more than 20 percent fewer vans were registered than last year, in August the decrease in the number of registrations was more than 12 percent. This is evident from figures from ACEA.
In July, 97,027 new commercial vehicles (up to 3.5 tons) were registered in the European Union. That was 20.6 percent less than in the same month last year (122,194 units). In August, the percentage decrease in the number of registered company cars compared to the same month in 2021 was 12.1 percent. In that month, 87,343 new buyers were registered.
This brings the total number of commercial vehicles registered in the European Union in the first eight months of this year to 838,608 units. That is 22.3 percent less than the 1,079,877 copies that received a registration in the same period of 2021.
According to ACEA figures, 3,772 company cars (up to 3.5 tons) were registered in the Netherlands in August, 4.5 percent less than in the same month last year. If we look at the first eight months of 2022, the registration of company cars in the Netherlands with 39,526 units is just under 18 percent behind last year.
