Kia had a top year in the Netherlands, but the European sales results of the brand are also impressive. In fact, Kia’s market share in Europe has never been as large as last year.
At the last minute, Volkswagen stole the title ‘most popular car brand in the Netherlands’. Until November, it seemed that Kia would become the largest car brand in the Netherlands in 2021. Kia has no reason to complain in the Netherlands. With more than 30,000 cars sold, the brand had a market share of 9.3 percent in the Netherlands and the Niro was by far the most popular car in our country with almost 11,000 units sold. Kia also has the wind in its sails in Europe.
Kia sold 502,677 passenger cars in Europe last year, a staggering 20.6 percent than a year earlier. Those more than half a million cars is not a record sales for Kia in our continent, but the brand does have the highest market share ever in Europe. 4.3 percent of cars sold in Europe last year had a Kia badge on its snout. In the Netherlands, the Picanto was the best-selling model after the Niro. Last year almost 8,000 Picantos were registered, good for fourth place in the sales statistics.
