Extinction Rebellion wants to block the A10 on King’s Day

Anyone planning to drive to or past Amsterdam by car on King’s Day might do well to avoid the A10 as much as possible. The climate activists of Extinction Rebellion are probably standing, hanging or lying on the highway.

Extinction Rebellion (XR) announces that it will block the A10 on King’s Day. If you are planning to go to Amsterdam by car on April 27 to celebrate King’s Day, it might be better to drive or choose another type of transport to avoid spoiling your holiday. From 12:00 the climate activists of Extinction Rebellion will be blocking the A10. Dressed in orange clothing, for a bit of festivity.

Extinction Rebellion asks King Willem-Alexander to speak out against fossil financing. “The Netherlands is one of the countries that have contributed most to the climate and ecological crisis worldwide and the royal family is partly responsible for this,” says spokesperson Let de Jong. “It is unacceptable that Dutch companies, including ING, continue to fuel the crises. If the king speaks out, we will certainly consider postponing the blockade.” So no guarantees. XR has blocked the A10 three times before. On March 30, Extinction Rebellion also attempted to block the A10, but the municipality of Amsterdam put a stop to it.
