More traffic on Thursday morning

The ANWB expects extra traffic on the road this weekend due to German tourists. Due to a public holiday in the country, many Germans spend a long weekend in the Netherlands. It will also be summery again and therefore a lot of Dutch recreational traffic is expected.
Traffic jams can form as early as Thursday morning. The German holidaymakers go to the coast, the Wadden Islands and the Veluwe, the ANWB expects. Roads where it can get busy include the A1 (Hengelo towards Amsterdam), the A12 (from the German border towards Utrecht) and the N280 (Mönchengladbach towards Roermond). The ANWB expects traffic jams to become shorter again by noon on Thursday.
However, the rest of the weekend will also be busy on the road due to the predicted summer weather. This will mainly cause traffic jams towards the coast and the Wadden Islands, according to the traffic service. Beachgoers should take into account the closure of the Haringvliet bridge in the A29 between Rotterdam and Bergen op Zoom from Friday evening. It lasts until August 4. There are also several major events this weekend that can cause a lot of traffic. For example, the Blues Festival takes place in Grolloo (Drenthe) on Friday and Saturday. The Ocean Race takes place in Scheveningen on Sunday and Bruce Springsteen performs in Landgraaf. The Best Kept Secret festival is held in Hilvarenbeek from Friday to Sunday.
