Eyeballs # 21: Track all your packages with AfterShip

We now order packages from all over the world. With the AfterShip app, you can keep them all in one central place.

Eyeball: AfterShip

It’s easier than ever to order things online. We no longer limit ourselves to Dutch web stores, because our clothing, books, games, etc. come from all over the world. This growth is easy to explain. Shipping costs are often low and the products cheap. The effect of this growth on the environment and the economy will be left in the middle here.

The biggest disadvantage of shopping abroad is how long it takes for the package to finally reach your front door. Some people sometimes forget what they have ordered, and weeks later the arrival of an order feels like a surprise. As if they received a present that they paid for themselves. Others prefer to keep an eye on the shipment as closely as possible.

Websites and apps

Do you fall into the latter category? Then it is not easy to keep track of all your orders. Orders are often sent via different companies and each company uses its own strange web interface to track the packages. Sometimes the links in emails from these carriers don’t work properly, or you have to look up your number every time before you find the status of your package.

Don’t do that to yourself, because it can be much easier. In the App Store there are various tracking apps that help you to track your packages. Apps like 17Track and Parcel are excellent options. However, we choose AfterShip.

All your packages

AfterShip has a very simple, but effective app. Just tap the plus sign, enter a number, specify a carrier if necessary and your shipment will be added to the list. In this list you can see per shipment what the latest updates are, who the carrier is and the contact information of that carrier.

If there is an update about one of your shipments, you will receive a message about it. You can also set that you receive a notification from every checkpoint, but you must first create an account for this. The advantage is that you can also use the web interface. There you have to enter the name of your company, because the website is actually intended for companies. Fortunately, you can also just fill in nonsense here, after which you can follow your packages via a browser.

Hope carriers

Why we prefer AfterShip in addition to those other apps is, in addition to the simple app, the amount of carriers that is supported. AfterShip supports more than four hundred different companies, including a stack from the Netherlands such as PostNL, DHL, GLS and Dynalogic.

Do you mainly order parcels in the Netherlands and are they delivered via PostNL? Then you can simply follow it in the PostNL app. This app was previously our Eyeball because of the handy My Post function that warns you for all addressed mail that is sent via transport.
