Ford is carrying out a facelift that is very much focused on one body style. In fact, it is even a performance. The Ford Focus Active Wagon gets its own front!
One car is not the other. For example, it can happen that a model elsewhere in the world appears slightly different. This also applies to the Ford Focus from now on. Ford is carrying out a facelift on the model in China, but one that is specifically aimed at the Ford Focus Active Wagon. Earlier, Techzle was able to show the first photos of that specially sharpened Focus Active Wagon. Now that updated version has been officially presented.
The Focus Active Wagon is not the only Ford that has a different appearance in China, where the model is also called Fox. For example, the Chinese version of the Kuga, which is called ‘Escape’ in China, just like in the United States, has its own front. We don’t just add that example. The facelifted Ford Focus Active Wagon gets a front in China that somewhat resembles that of that SUV. The headlights are slightly connected to each other by means of a chrome strip. Under the chrome strip we see a completely new grille, which is different in shape and surrounded by a black border. The front bumper is also different. Ford gives the revised Focus Active Wagon, in China there is no ordinary Wagon, more pronounced skid plates and fresh C-shaped ornaments around the fog lights, which have also been redesigned.
Ford Focus Active (Europe)
Also at the rear, the facelifted Ford Focus Active Wagon is slightly different from the one known here. For example, the part made of black plastic has become a lot thicker and Ford places both left and right in the bumper openings that have to pass for exhaust end pieces. The European Focus Active Wagon (photos 6 and 7) has twin tailpipes on the right side of its bumper. More changes: the reflectors in the rear bumper are, with their rectangular and upright shape, a lot larger than the horizontal stripes in the bumper of the known example. The Chinese Focus Active Wagon also gets a chrome finish around the side window.
Ford Focus Active Wagon (China)
We do not expect this renewed Ford Focus Active Wagon on the market in Europe. Moray Callum, Vice President of Global Design at Ford, said last year that a “somewhat more dynamic design appeals to the Chinese consumer”. The question is whether the design of this Chinese Focus Active Wagon can actually be described as ‘more dynamic’. In any case, the whole looks slightly more eccentric. Progress, or not?
