Attention Lada lovers! The brand’s most popular car and also the best-selling car in Russia has received a facelift. We are of course talking about the Vesta, the car that introduced a new design language for Lada in 2015.

It has been almost seven years since Lada introduced the Vesta, a model that has certainly not done the brand any harm (photos 7 to 14). More than 650,000 units have been sold in total since the model was launched in 2015, and in 2021 the Vesta could call itself the best-selling passenger car in its home country of Russia. The Vesta introduced a new design language to the brand, and apparently Lada’s top managers didn’t dare to thoroughly adapt it to the design.

Pre-facelift Lada Vesta (2014-2022)

The renewed Vesta face mainly distinguishes itself with its headlights from the original. The facelifted Lada Vesta has new, flatter viewers that have been given a C-shaped spur at the bottom. It is reminiscent of the headlights that we know from alliance partner Renault. At the top of the unit is new LED daytime running lights. As before, the boomerang-shaped and chrome-colored ornament that the Vesta’s ‘X-smoeltje’ continues towards the headlights, although the part there is now enclosed by the aforementioned new offshoot. Lower on the front we find a new front bumper, but you have to look closely to see the differences with the original. Lada sticks a larger version of its logo in the center of the nose.

Lada also uses the brush of innovation on the back of the Vesta. The rear lights have been redesigned, have a new light signature and are now equipped with LED technology. Perhaps more striking is the tailgate, which is completely new. Lada gives the Vesta a ‘canopy’ on the back where the license plate is placed. The plastic attachment that used to house the number plate lighting has disappeared and the Lada brand name is now even bigger. Also on the back of the Vesta we see a new bumper, complete with chrome trim that should serve as exhaust tailpipes. The actual exhaust tailpipe is hidden under the bumper.

Vesta SW

Lada not only shows the new Vesta Sedan, it also releases the first plates of the renewed Lada Vesta SW. So the station version. For the time being, the Vesta SW only shows Lada as a Cross, the version decorated with plastic wheel arch edges that is slightly higher on its legs. The Cross version now has its own grille with a coarse honeycomb pattern and the side mirror caps and the roof are now finished in black. In addition, the Cross version gets a stronger version of that of the less adventurous Vesta’s deviating bumper. There is also a Cross version of the Vesta Sedan, which will be renewed in a similar way. The Vesta SW also gets a taut tailgate and here too we see taillights of which both the shape and the light signature have changed.

We do not yet have an official picture of the interior of the renewed Vesta. We are aiming for steps to be taken here, especially in the field of infotainment. In any case, count on a much larger infotainment screen, of which we can already see something in these press photos.

The Lada Vesta cannot be dragged on in Russia. Although it is not the cheapest model from Lada, the car finished in first place in the sales statistics last year. Lada sold 113,698 Vestas in Russia last year, more than half (about 55,000 units) of which were Vesta SW. The Vesta pushed its brother Granta to second position, followed by the Kia Rio.

Although the Lada Vesta was never delivered in the Netherlands, AutoWeek drove the first kilometers with the model on Dutch soil in 2018. Watch the video of our driving impression here.
