Subaru performs a facelift on the Forester. The renewed Subaru Forester gets a completely new front and also undergoes various minor changes.
The Forester is an important model for Subaru. Since the introduction of the first generation in 1997, the brand has sold just under 360,000 in Europe over five generations. That is not a bad score for a relatively small brand like Subaru in Europe. The current model dates from 2018 and is now undergoing a fairly thorough facelift.
Chances are that the appearance of the renewed Subaru Forester is familiar to you. In Japan, the SUV was already updated in mid-2021 and the ‘Fozzy’ already has the new front in the United States. The European version closely follows its international brother. The changes are quite drastic. The Forester gets an all-new front end, complete with a new grille with a revised layout and all-new headlamps. The C-shaped light signature that characterizes Subaru models is retained, but the shape of the viewers is completely different. A bigger bite has been taken from the units and a more playful-looking line runs towards the wheel arches. The part of the headlight that dives into the front wing has not been changed, which means that Subaru only had to adjust the front bumper for the new viewers. For the occasion, the design of that front bumper is also completely new. At the rear, nothing changes, even the bumper remains unchanged.
Subaru brings a number of new passive and active safety systems to the Forester. For example, Automatic Emergency Steering is new, as is adaptive cruise control with active lane assistant and Lane Departure Prevention. The Pre-Collision Braking System has been expanded and now does its best at intersections to avoid collisions. From now on you can also use pressure to gesture to adjust things like the temperature. Subaru also says that the chassis and steering have been finely ground. As before, the Subaru will be launched in Europe as a hybrid e-Boxer. If you give that powertrain on its proverbial thunder in driving mode S, the CVT transmission behaves just a little more alert, according to Subaru. The Forester’s infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. More news? Subaru brings a handful of new exterior colors to the SUV.
Prices and specifications for the Dutch market will follow soon.
