At the presentation of the facelifted Opel Astra, it turned out that the car was not allocated PSA engines, but new GM copies. With that remarkable fact we immediately get the biggest news, but there is also something special going on with the optical part.
We had to call it again last year: were there really no PSA engines screwed into the Astra? It turned out to be GM copies. Quite remarkable, given that Opel is rapidly being included in the French group and the new 1.2-liter engines also turned out to be the same size as their French brothers. However, the new GM power units were already ready for the Astra, so Opel management decided to carry out the facelift as planned.
The freshening up does not have much else to do. Nothing has even changed at the rear and even the light units have remained intact. The optional matrix LED headlights on the front are also unchanged. Only the front bumper has been revised.
Why then a place in this section? Well, with that front bumper is something special going on. At first glance, only the grille seems different, with the double, in most cases chrome-plated slat at the top, clearing the field for a single specimen.
At the same time, however, the bottom of the grille was pushed upwards, making it flatter and thus looking wider. The license plate moved with it, so that the air inlet at the bottom of the bumper could just grow. In addition, the small “notches” previously found under the headlights were smoothed out. The result is a car that looks a lot wider and smoother with a few minor changes than before. Handsome, but whether it is also beautiful? Vote!
