Facelift Jaguar i-Pace surfaced

The Jaguar i-Pace has recently been slightly modified, including new versions, different color schemes and – very important – a 3-phase charger. Jaguar is not sitting still, however, because patent sketches have already surfaced of a subsequent refurbishment.

Where the previous round of renewal was previously a model year update, the next one seems to be a real facelift. However, it is one of the very minimal kind. The patent sketches discovered by Motor trend but neatly retrieved from the database by Techzle, at first glance show an i-Pace as we have known it for years. A second look shows that there are indeed a lot of changes, especially in the lower part of the bumpers.

To make those changes visible, we are adding two ‘sliding plates’ for this time. Indeed, just like in an episode of Facelift Friday. This makes it clearly visible that the air intake under the grille has a different layout. The ornaments on both sides of this ‘hole’ are given a different shape and the strip at the top is removed so that the whole appears larger without actually being. The fog lights will also be deleted, although that may be an implementation difference.

The headlights seem almost unchanged, although the daytime running light trim may be slightly flattened. The exterior mirrors are clearly different, at least if they actually appear in the sketched form.

The news is also mainly at the bottom at the back. The bumper loses the openings to the left and right of the license plate, making the whole look a bit tighter. More horizontal, straight lines and the apparently scrapping of the reflectors at the bottom of the bumper also contribute to this. The rear lights retain their recognizable LED signature, but are definitely different. The burning red strip will soon be higher in the light unit, which makes it look flatter and wider.

Whether the i-Pace will also be technically adapted remains to be seen. With a range of 470 km and its new, fast charger, the car does not have to be ashamed in that respect, so it is not really necessary in any case.
