The current X3 still looks like a current model, but BMW’s SUV has been running for several years in the segment of models such as the Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. Time for a facelift!
BMW introduced the current third generation of the X3 to the world in 2017, which means that the model is already three years old. Two subtly wrapped test copies of the X3 have been caught in the south of Spain. Then the connoisseur knows enough: the X3 is getting ready for what BMW calls an LCI. A Life Cycle Impulse, or a facelift.
In accordance with BMW LCI tradition, the updated X3 is also not too heavy-handed. We count on slightly modified headlights, a slightly turned-on grille and sharpened bumper work at both the front and rear. The lighting is also being adjusted at the back, although you do not have to expect completely new units. BMW will undoubtedly give the X3 a revised infotainment system and it is possible that the infotainment screen will grow a bit.
When it comes to engines, there will soon be plenty to choose from. BMW currently supplies the X3 with various petrol and diesel power sources, but also has a plug-in hybrid on the price list. The latter, the xDrive30e, has a 183 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder that works together with a 109 hp electric motor that is incorporated in the eight-speed automatic transmission. The system power is 292 hp and 420 Nm, good for a sprint of 6.1 counts from a standstill to 100 km / h. The electric range that the 12 kWh battery (net 10.8 kWh) makes possible is, depending on the chosen version, between 51 and 55 kilometers. Prefer a larger electrical range? Then wait until January, when the fully electric iX3 will be in the showrooms.
