The Audi E-tron, the first all-electric series production Audi, will receive a facelift in due course. The E-tron Sportback is also on the road in the snow with camouflage material. Compared to the current model, the changes do not seem to be earth-shattering, which suggests that Audi has mainly worked under the skin to further improve the E-tron.

Compared to the previously caught facelifted E-tron, this prototype of the refreshed E-tron Sportback has less camouflage material to hide its new appearance. First of all, it is noticeable that the light units are the same as the current model. Usually that is one of the first parts that go under the knife during a facelift. One change that stands out is the grille. It is still well packaged, but it seems that the grille of the new E-tron is no longer deeper than the rest of the front bumper, as is still the case with the current model. So expect the necessary changes in that regard.

At the back of the E-tron Sportback, nothing seems to change. Both the light bar and the diffuser have almost exactly the same shape as now. The interior is not yet visible, but count on a renewed infotainment system and perhaps a modified steering wheel with the brand new two-dimensional logo of Audi in it.

From a technical point of view, the E-tron will most likely continue on the shovel. The electric top model from Audi must be further set apart from the rest of the range, which means, among other things, that the range has to be increased. The current WLTP range of the E-tron is not extremely low at 440 kilometers, but to be really distinctive compared to, for example, the Q4 e-tron, the E-tron must already go towards 600 kilometers. That also seems to be happening. To achieve that greater range, Audi is expected to install more powerful battery packs and improved electric motors. An RS version with more than 600 hp, just like the lower brother E-tron GT, is also possible.

We expect the new Audi E-tron in the showroom at the end of this year or early 2023 at the earliest. The unveiling will probably take place a little earlier. In addition, the E-tron will most likely also get a new name: in the corridors there is a buzz that the flagship Q8 will be called e-tron. Given the rest of the range, the Q4 e-tron and the upcoming Q6 e-tron, that name change would be a logical step.
